gents--pleased to report that the stone carrying is going well. am up to thirty feet now with the 100kilo stone. lift and carry to barrel, set on top. rest. throw it down. pick it up again and carry 30 feet to second barrel. set on top. repeat six times ballbuster. upper back is much stronger from these. of course, they will stiffen up the hip area (acc. to james macbeath, britain's best all-rounder 16 years in a row, he should know). so i don't recommend them. |

Ever tried squatting for reps with a large stone? It's a killer workout.Sometimes I do an all stones routine.I try to duplicate as many barbell movements as I can think of.They can be quite humbling.I got hooked on stones after reading Of Stones And Strength by Steve Jeck and Peter Martin.I'm glad to hear of other people training with stones. Most of the stones mentioned in the book were in Scotland. The stones force me to use many more muscles than I would performing barbell lifts. My overall strength has greatly improved since I started wrestling with them.As far as tightness,I think everything is tight the next day or two.But the overall gains have been great.
