When putting on the Games for the first time in an area what things do you need/want/do, etc? Implements for the games (weights, stones, standards, etc) are a given... Proper area to hold the games that has enough room for the events and space for spectators. Facilities for natures call. Spot for the kids to do something related to Scottish things (crafts put on a local pre-school or something...). Contacting a Pipe and Drum contingent... Prizes for 1st through 3rd for the athletes as well as a commerative gift for all participants... Waiver form in case of injury... What else have you got? Thanks, JC |

This is your biggie! Finding the bodies to staff a Games/festival/gathering!! That will make or break you. As far as events go, athletics, dance, piping/drumming competitions can and should be self-supporting. lt's too early to be thinking about pipe bands or Elite athletes. The local pipe band can replace the band comps with performances. Local entertainers could cover an entertainment stage for small fees. As far as clan tents and venders, "If you build it, they will come!" |
