I blame the anesthesia.  Shit stays on me for like 4 days to where I feel terrible and my head stays a little foggy. Forgive the lapse.

I feel ya. I don't do well with that crap either. I had a 12 fast before my last surgery. Then it was pushed back 6 hours. I was starving when I came to. Couldn't keep a thing down for 24 hours.

Good times.

PT once a week and that started the day after surgery.  It's obv nothing though, due to the 4-6 weeks of tissue remodeling/healing.  Still locked at 90° in the big brace.

Out of the brace last week.  Doc said, "don't go to the gym", lol.

I did get to do the hand bike yesterday.  Progress.

I expect to back in the gym in September.

After checking the calendar, Detroit is looking like a no.

Holding pretty steady actually.  I was about 296 (with a high of 304) right before surgery, and I've been steady at 286 the past couple weeks.

I suspect when I get back to moving weight, that 10lbs will come right back if I want.  I might go the other direction though...and lean out some.

Best of luck Craig.  Would have loved to share the field with you once.  I feel the stories and scars we could have shared would be more interesting than the throwing we'd do.  lol.

Sup bro.

Should I post something here sometime?  I pressed 95lbs last night after my rehab stuff...so you could say things are getting serious.

This will cover the months I've missed, and the months I will miss:

Eat meat and veggies.

Lift really light weights.

Flex abs.

Rinse and repeat.

Thanks for checking in Al!

Nothing exciting going here.

I train a couple times a week (bb style and staying leaner), and I'm playing lacrosse.  Trying to be a better athlete!

I will do two games this year for fun, and I'll judge a few.  So I'm still around ;-)

Figured since I threw a game, I'm good for another update (and probably one after next week too).  Then back to non-HG related activities, lol.

This was my first real game in 19 months due to surgery last year, and I decided I'd do Alma again before I retire since I like the game so much and have so much fun there.

Also my first game in a loooooonnnnnnng time throwing at 265lbs body weight.

Alma Highland Games - 5/28/16

Craig Smith, Nathan Burchett, Nate Parker, Luke Crowley, John Piling, Jeremy Gillingham, Adam Brezina

Open Stone (20lbs) - 44'4" (2nd)
HWFD - 42'6.5" (2nd)
LWFD - 75'0.5" (5th)
HHammer - 101'2" (3rd)
Caber - 11:00 (3rd)
Sheaf (25lbs) - 22' (6th)
WOB - 15' (5th)

Overall - 4th

So, some good, some bad, I suppose.  I'm happy with my decision to call it a career, and my lwfd, caber, and WOB, despite there being something to work on there, showed me that it's the right call.

This was a close game at several times, with just a few points separating the top 5.  At the end of the day, it was awesome to see Nate Parker take the win.  He had a fantastic day and deserved every minute of it.

(Oh, and btw Nate, here is the real WOB FR there Smile)

One to go.

residual.

with the back stuff, any attempt to train with intensity just creates more issues. working with a PT now to fix postural and mechanical issues to take pressure off lumbar spine so the disc can heal.
