I realize that these numbers are dismal.  I was waiting on a surgery, so I figured I'd take a break and heal up.  Had my Bicep done (not really).  They opened me, saw that I was basically healed, then closed me back up.  I was waiting for my GERD surgery, and took time off.  Still haven't gotten my insurance OK'd.  So I started lifting.

Here goes.
Doing "BIGGER FASTER STRONGER" set-rep routine

BW 310-315 I've been dieting down from 330 a few weeks ago. Average caloric intake >1000 / day with 10-20 gm carbs.  So weakness is ok, I guess.
2-5-2010

Bench (yep Bench)
2 warm up sets light
3X295
3X315
3X325
Back Sq
2 warmup
3X315
3X325
3X365

2-8-2010
Power Clean
3X185
3X205
3X225

DL
3X365
3X385
3X405

Towel Bench
3X315
3X325
3X350 Missed last rep

Box Sq at parallel
3X325
3X365
3X405

Push press
3X185
3X205
3X225
1X230 (x 3)

I've been doing other lifts, at lower intensity.

2-13-2010
seated rows
215 (full stack on machine here) 3X10 reps
good mornings
185 3X8 reps
rack pulls to shrug
315 5X5 reps
front delt raise to overhead
55 each hand 3X8 reps

Next week starts the 3X5 set/rep routine.  The low back is really tight, but not in pain.

Feedback welcomed!!!!!!!

I should be training, not posting!!!

I didn't cut it out completely.  I was afraid of some sort of rebound withdrawal.  I'm down to a couple about once a week.I have enjoyed a glass of merlot almost every night.

Great to see you posting on here, Dougie.

I don't think most realize your prowess with the ale.

What is your caloric intake on this weight loss?  If you were headed to gym by afternoon with only 400calories...your body is in starvation mode.  That is NOT the best way to lose weight...well unless you want to be rail thin, weak as baby, and most likely very sick.

Weight loss is most effective when you cut out 500-1000 calories from a diet and 'maybe' increase your cardio.  Just cutting out the calories from an 'active' lifestyle is effective.

Lifting those kinds of weights, I hope you are putting away at least 2500 calories a day.  (That number would have me gnawing on people sitting next to me.)

Well, I'm back on the beer thanks to an interesting day.

I'll start with the
GOOD.
I was working with the HS throwers this afternoon.  I had a freshman girl box squatting 225 for a triple.  She has no clue what she just did.  I could see dome of the baseball players looking over at this 14 year old and looking back at their under-loaded bar.  They clapped for her when she finished. There's another girl, same age who wasn't there today, who I think is just a bit stronger.  I'm looking forward to this season.

Now the BAD
After the kids left, I started my lifting.  During my second set of Box squats, I felt that, all too familiar, tearing in my left adductor.  Remembering my biceps tendon, I stopped right then.  I felt like I could lift more, but I let discretion be the better part of valor.

Next the UGLY
As I got out of the truck (with an ever so slight limp), I noticed Lisa's car that we are getting ready to sell, has a long key scratch down the passenger side.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot.... I got the tentative OK from my insurance Co for surgery.  Hoping to get it in early April, and ready to start the season by May.

2-24-10

Trained the kids today after about 6-7 easy stands with my homemade indoor stone.  I didn't measure, but they felt good despite the adductor being sore.  Just worked wit the kids in the weightroom for a while then did some push presses
5X135
5X185
5X225
just missed 275  (goal is to get back over 300 soon)

1X235
1X250X3
10X135 for speed X3

All were done with very little leg drive.  I just didn't feel so fast today.
