Check out the website (under construction) for the Texas Amateur Championship Series (TACS).

http://scottishgamesleague.com/index.html

We are running a points based league based on all the competitions held in the state of Texas.  Throw often and well and win the Series championship for your class.  In this inaugural year we will be tracking three classes:  Men's Amateur, Men's Master, and Women's.

The whole idea is to support the Heavy Events and provide a format for the Highland Games that will support the festivals and fans.  And, hopefully, provide another avenue for sponsors to contribute to the community.

We've already had 5 competitions in Texas. At this point the leaders in their respective classes are:  Duncan McCallum (Men's Ams), Robert Baar (Masters), and Brittney Boswell (Womens).  The current leader boards can be seen on the "Rankings" page on the site.

Any questions, comments, or feedback is more than welcome as we get the TACS up and running.

Things continue to progress for the TACS.

We have another sponsor, and more in the works:   http://scottishgamesleague.com/tacs-blog.html

We have our first run of t-shirts:

And the Raffle continues . . . https://www.rallyme.com/rallies/759

Thanks to everyone so far for the support in getting this league up and running.  We will continue to work to grow it and find ways to promote the Highland Games!

The latest update in the Texas Amateur Championship Series shows the race for the Am title is getting tight with Mike Beech, Scott Hutchison and Zac Church nipping at Duncan McCallum's heels.

In the Master's class Rob Baar still holds a commanding lead, but Kevin Miller is making a move to challenge him.

Brittney Boswell has a strong grip on the lead with Teresa Nystrom her closest rival.

Take a look at the rankings on the SGL/TACS site:

The eighth Highland Games competition in Texas this year is in the books. The TCAA's "Hotter than Hell" games took place in Plugerville, on July 12th.
The results are posted and the TACS League standings have been updated!
Duncan McCallum remains atop the Amateur class, but Mike Beech and Zac Church continue to nip at his heels in a tie for second.
Rob Baar maintained his lead in the Masters class with Kevin Miller slowly but surely making up ground in second. And, Tim Carrington moves up to the third spot.
Brittney Boswell continues to expand her lead in the Women's rankings, as Teresa Nystrom hangs on to the second place spot and Amber Uhl sits in third.
The full rankings can be seen on the SGL/TACS site:

This past weekend saw the Hill Country Highland Games contested in Kerrville, TX.  The results have been added to the SGL/TACS rankings board!

http://scottishgamesleague.com/rankings.html

Mike Beech, by virtue of his second place finish and 9 earned league points, has now overtaken Duncan McCallum to stand atop the Men's Amateur class!

Rob Baar, despite a fourth place finish, maintains his lead atop the Master's class.  Kevin Miller is making a move and closing the gap in the rankings with his second place finish.

In the Women's class Brittney Boswell continues her juggernaut season with a first place finish that adds to her lead.

There are still 5 competitions remaining in the 2014 Texas Highland Games season.  Stay tuned to see who will hold their class's trophy when the dust settles.

The TACS rankings have been updated after the competitions at Sherwood Forest Faire and the rankings have been shaken up some.

In the Amateur class Zach Church has stepped into the lead with only two points separating him from Duncan McCallum and Mike Beech.

In the Masters class Robert Baar continues his juggernaut season by making it out to both weekends of Sherwood and holding on to his lead.

Brittney Boswell seems to have the Women's class locked down despite not competing at Sherwood.

With just three games remaining in the 2014 Texas season, Celtober Cowtown Throwdown and Women's Team Challenge, the Austin Celtic Festival and the Salado Scottish Gathering, the TACS' inaugural season has been a barn burner.

The SGL's Texas Amateur Championship Series rankings have been updated!  Scores now include the Austin Scottish Festival and TCAA's Celtober Cowtown Throwdown and Women's Team Challenge.

Some things have changed.  Duncan McCallum has regained the top position in the Amateur Class with Zac Church and Mike Beech close behind.  New comer Hayden Baillio makes a splash by winning the class at Celtober.

In the Master's Class, Rob Baar stays atop the rankings with Kevin Miller and Tim Carrington gamely trying to make a move, but perhaps too little too late.

And, in the Women's class, Brittney Boswell maintains her strangle hold over Teresa Nystrom and Patricia Carrington.  But, Olivia Tyler is making a late move in the season and is within striking distance of the podium.

Take a look at the rankings here:  2014 TACS Rankings

If you will be in Texas on November 8th, make sure to get to the Salado Scottish Gathering in Salado, Texas where the 2014 TACS Championship Awards ceremony will take place.

We will be holding an on-site raffle for a 28# weight.  Don't miss your chance to pick up a sweet implement to start your off-season.

Stay tuned for more news coming from the Scottish Games League . . .

Kevin, you are currently sitting in second in the rankings.  You made the games, you earned the points, you win the prizes.

So, we will have a stand in for you on the podium, unless something changes drastically, and mail you all your swag.  Thumbs Up

See you at St. Louis, if not sooner.
