if it weighs in 12lb or over, then Matt Faltis on his first game being an AD witnessed a new world record at CelticFest 2014, Cedar Rapids (Marion), Iowa.
The record is for the 12lb sheaf and was launched by Candice Mann 29' over the bar surpassing the old mark by 1'. The sheaf was made be Jason Clevenger. Candice first tied the record, then broke it by 6" than by 1" clearing those heights without touching the bar. She had 29'-6" on a couple of her throws at that height but either peaked in front of or behind the bar.
If I may quote Matt Faltis when address the throwers "Who is now complaining about throwing the 12lb sheaf!" There was some flooding in Cedar Rapids so I imagine the official weight is still in the works! BTW, she used Katie Steingraeber's fork, which obviously is endowed with magic every time it enters IOWA! I hope I am not premature in saying congratulations. Edited by McSanta - 7/01/14 at 8:20am |

And I thought the 12# sheaf was all but extinct save for Utah and Idaho, which are slowly transitioning to the 10# in some games.
Way to go, Candice!!
