It's that time of year y'all.  Time to get your names in for the Maine Highland Games.   Sam Denson and I will be AD-ing the games again this year.  We will be having all the normal classes as usual.

Date: Saturday, August 15, 2015
Where:  Topsham Fairgrounds, Topsham ME
What: A Wicked Awesome Time

Am A
Am B
Masters
Ladies
and of course Pro'

Pro Lineup
Mike Zolkiewicz
Jeremy Gillingham
Nathan Burchett
Beau Fay
Jeff Kaste

and this year taking the 6th spot, "Leroy's Spot", a spot held open for a new pro we have Maine's own

Rob Meulenberg!

If you are interested in competing please contact Sam and I here or at mainehighlandathletics@yahoo.com so we can get you on the list.  We have already had some early interest from outside New England and I encourage everyone out there who might want to spend a few summer days on the beautiful coast of Maine to come on up and throw.

As in years past there is no registration fee, I will be sending out free tickets to all those who register.   If you would like to pre-order tickets for your friends or family at a lesser cost let me know and I can help facilitate that.

Also looking for volunteers to help, free ticket and free t-shirt, the more the merrier. If you have any family or friends who would like to help please please send them my way.

Can't wait to see you all.

Alison Tostevin

I plan on coming out of retirement and throw for the first time in like 7 years in Maine.  Sign me up for the master's class.

Hopefully you can find an adequate replacement to judge the Pros?

Roster as of 7/29/2015. If I do not have your t-shirt size make sure you send it to me ASAP. If I dont have it before this weekend I will guess and you will be stuck with whatever it is I come up with.   I will be sending out information on how to get in to the games, as a money saving measure I am not going to be mailing out tickets. We will have an athletes only gate, and there will be a list at the gate that will get you (and only you) in for free. Anyone else in the car will need to pay and can do so right there at the gate.   I will be sending out directions and an address to use with a GPS to get you in to the right gate.   This gate will allow you to park right on the field without driving through the grounds.

I could really use one more lightweight!!!   Call all your skinny friends and get them out to throw, we need just onemore to make it legit!!    No Tony you cant cut a leg off to make weight.

If you have any questions please let me know. More info in the coming days. I cant wait to see you all.

Please pass this on to all who don't frequent NASGA and Facebook.  If you would like me to email you directions please let me know and I will get them out to you.

2015 Maine Highland Games Inside Scoop

·       Directions to the Athletes’ Entrance ALL ATHLETES and VOLUNTEERS MUST USE THIS ENTRANCE.  If you use any other entrance you will most likely have to buy a ticket. This entrance allows you to park right on the throwing field.

o   For GPS Location use Grandstand Rd. Topsham ME, 04086 or 56 Elm St. Topsham (which is the house on the corner of Elm St. and Grandstands Rd.

o   Coming From 295 North

§  Exit 31

§  Right on to ME-196

§  Follow ME-196 for 1.9 mi through 3 lights

§  At the fourth light take a right onto Main St. ME-201

§  At first light take a left on to Elm St. ME-24

§  Just past 56 Elm St. take a right on to Grandstands Rd.

§  Proceed Up the road until you see a sign that says ATHLETES.

o   I will have some type of sign to let you know you are at the right entrance.

** There are two entrances to the fairgrounds on Elm St.  Make sure you are the right entrance. DO NOT USE the Fairground Rd. Entrance!  If you don’t see a sign that says “Athletes” then do not use that entrance.  The gate attendant (most likely Muffy Tostevin) will have a list of athletes there to let in.

·       Our gate will be closed at 8:45 am.   If you get there after that time you will have to use the general public parking which is located on Community Way, Topsham ME. You will also have to pay for a ticket.

·       If you need to purchase tickets for family members that are with you, you will be able to do so at the gate.  $20.00 for Adults, $5.00 for Children 6-12, Children under 6 are free.

·       Registration is from 7:00am-8:30am.

·       Amateurs, Masters, and Ladies to start at 9:00 am, Pros and Amateurs A’s will go off at 9:30.

·       A lunch of yummy sandwiches will be provided by one of our sponsors Rusty’s Market.

·       If you need to reach us at any point please call or text:

o   Alison:  207-841-6456

o   Sam: 207-844-4896

o   Or email mainehighlandathletics@yahoo.com

Can’t wait to see you all on the field.
