Proud to announce.....

The Scottish Games League is proud to announce the Inaugural SGL Championship will be held at the Rio Grande Valley Celtic Festival  (RGVCF) in Albuquerque, NM the weekend of May 21-22, 2016!

SGL President Michael Dickens and RGVCF Chairman Grant Oliver have confirmed that the RGVCF will be the first festival to host the SGL Championships.

Mr. Oliver stated, “We are very pleased to host the first SGL Championship, and look forward to what it will bring to our festival and the sport!”

The RGVCF has a unique venue at the Balloon Festival Park in Albuquerque that can easily accommodate the 36 athletes from the three SGL Championship classes in addition to the regularly hosted classes.

Each of the 12 SGL Regions will be represented by a champion from the Men’s Amateur, Men’s Masters, and Women’s Open classes by virtue of earning the most league points that season.  For more info on how the SGL League Rankings are calculated, see our FAQS section.

Two of the twelve regions have finished their 2015 seasons and crowned champions.  Stay tuned as the rosters for the classes are announced!

Mr. Dickens also confirmed that the SGL is already in talks with several festivals to finalize the site for the 2016 SGL season’s championship.

One of the primary goals for the SGL in bringing all the regional champions together to compete in the SGL Championships is to provide travel support and a hotel room.

The amount of support will be dictated by sponsorships, patronage, grants, and fundraising.

So, stay tuned as we continue to move forward toward this event!

Hey Joel, British Columbia was included in the SGL's PNW region this year.  Lance Barusch placed second in the Masters division and Monique Nadeau did quite well in the Women's division as well.
