In some ways, the testing stone of the Fianna is more significant than a lot of other, better-known stones. The Fianna were warriors or Ireland from roughly 100 BC to 300 AD (by various accounts), who lived off the land and materialized from nowhere when needed to protect Ireland and the high king. Beyond this, the truth about the Fianna is difficult to separate from myth. The stories that have been handed down are fascinating reading, and there must be some truth to them.
The testing stone of the Fianna should be considered a part of our world heritage, like Stonehenge and the Colossus of Rhodes. -Wayne |
