Yo! I decided I'm going to try my hand at the heavy athletics in a few months here in Texas. I'm pretty much a novice to throwing, intermediate strength trainee, and have a martial arts background. About two weeks ago I did a little workout with my brother who is home from college, and we ended our keg presses and tire flips with some stone throwing in the field not far away, needless to say It was a blast and now I want to test myself out a bit.

Bought Matt Vincent's: Throwing Lab and I've got myself a 16lbs and 8 lbs shot, some kettlebells for the meantime until I find the implements to throw over bar and distance.

I'm not very big so i'll probably be competing in the 200lbs under group if they have one. Currently I'm

5'10
190lbs

Most reliable 1rms

Bench 355lbs
Squat 475lbs
DL 535lbs
Power clean 265lbs ( just started doing these again, form needs work still)

I'd like to talk or get together with other throwers in my area to learn the ways and practice. Anyone around the DFW area?

Good morningEllisUFC. Your best bet is to follow this group on facebook and attend one of the practices announced there. We have several different areas throughout DFW where practices are held.

TCAA - Texas Celtic Athletic Association
Highland Games - The drama is so high, because the stakes are so low.
