Thanks, I'll try looking them up. I think a powerlifter friend of mine may know Pat...

There are several in the Grand Rapids area. Look up Pat Cameron, Jerry Bowersox or Kip Miller.

Ben - I'm not out your way but if you come to Alma I'm sure you'll find some people out your way.

Hi,

I'm interested in trying to get involved in training for and competing in heavy athletics/highland games. I was wondering if there's anyone else around in the West Michigan area who trains for them, or if there are any other resources people could recommend on this side of the state.

I've been training and competing in bodybuilding for the past couple years, but would like to change gears and get more into the strength sports. I'm very familiar with weight training and all that, and stand about 5'8" 260 lbs, but I can't say I've ever tossed a caber or thrown a stone to save my life. I did see that there's a big games in Alma the 28th, so I was planning to head out to that to try and get a better feel for the events.

Thank you much for any help,

Ben
