Bro, you are pretty much there already.

Thanks Duncan...important to focus on the little things because practice with Dickens can look like this at times...

19 FEB 12               Push/Pull

dwu
Inc Bench - up to 315x2, drop to 275x7, drop to 225x12
rack pulls from kneecap - up to 725x3x2 sets
some bis/tris
hang leg raise x 20

the rack pulls were right on the top of the kneecap.  so i was pulling back on the kc and up the thigh for all of them.   doh!   top of kc and up for about 4 inches into the lower head of my quads is pretty bruised today  Cry
but, was a nice push/pull day all the same.
pulling that weight in that ROM really isn't bad.  I just can't imagine pulling it off the ground.  takes a strong dude with the right levers/mechanics to pull a full lift with that much.  hats off to them.   Thumbs Up

I know I'm not Dickens

Threw today. Nothing great but some good reps in about 45 minutes.
HH x 14 @ 72-74 feet...there was an invisible wall at 74 ft...couldn't get passed that for the life of me...literally ever throw was in that two range.
LH x 16 @ 91-92 feet....again the wall taunted... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWEpWb1Nt8E&feature=youtube_gdata_player

23FEB12      Pull/Push

dwu
hang cleans - up to 315x1, 335x2misses, 335x2misses     so right there!  Angry
bench - 175x6, 225x3, XXXXXXXXXXX
seated BNP - up to 205x6, drop to 185x6, drop to 135x8
Lat PD - up to 200x8, 220x8x2
bi/tri DS

so, the 335 is just such a minor miss.  all four times got it to my sternum, but just couldn't keep my elbows under it.  sheesh.  if nothing else, getting some good hi pull work.  haha
bench, sigh.  last sunday when i did the rack pulls my right side, upper pec cramped up on the last rep.  been bugging me all week.  nothing to severe, but just some spasms doing this or that and some tightness.   concerned i might have strained it a bit.  didn't feel right on bench, so tried to be smart and moved over to seated BNPs
may take a deload week to let it heal up.

Two weeks away from the weights...wasn't my plan to do so, work and grad school got in the way of me doing anything I wanted to do.

Maxed out today to see where I'm at and I am starting the training lab program next week. Have to make some modification to the umber of lifting and throwing days per week though.

Front squat: 315
Incline bench: 250
Clean: 255

Wish I had those weeks back...

10 Mar 12    Crap Throwing session

dwu
some light braemar, OS, 42 wfd, 28 wfd, 12# hammer

was cold, in the 40's, but it was windy, and the wind made it much colder.  couldn't really get warmed up, felt stiff and like i'd left my cns at home.  nothing would really fly much at all.  so, took it easy and just tried to work technical stuff.  gotta work these sessions out of the system.   sigh

better day today . . .

PF  Push/Pull

dwu
PF Push Press @ 4.5+ fps - work sets upto 235 x3x2 sets, then 225 x3x3 sets
PF wide grip RDL Hi Pull @ 4.5+ fps - work sets at 245 x3x5 sets
some quick bi/tri
some core

best thing about this workout is that it confirmed that i don't have a strain in my pec or any issue with my shoulders.  it is just inflammation of my scalenes, particularly the one that runs out to the shoulder.  figured this out over the last week with a couple comments from my good friend Bryan McClain and some research.  Started stretching them and treating basically the same as IT bands.  already getting better.  there was no real effect on my ability to push and pull today.  That's the most important thing.  yea!

Glad to hear its getting better bro.

Today: B2:C1:W2:D1

Deadlift: 355x5x5. These are not my strongest lift and I genuinly hate doing them. I would never have considered myself a puller,my lifetime best is 500 on the button, but it took a lot of time and effort to get there. I am back up to 440 and I would really like to pull 500 again...so this is the one session I cannot miss.

OHP: 120x5x5. These are moving along steadily.

Lumberjacks: 95# x 3 sets of 7. Doing each set as fast as possible. Set 1 26 seconds, 2nd 20 secs, 3rd 18 secs.

for various reasons, skipped my workout on Tuesday.   did it today.

15mar12     Snatch/PF FS

dwu
snatch - upto 165x2x4 sets
FS @ 2.62-3.28 fps - work sets - 275x3, 295x3, 315x3, 325 x 3 x 3sets
Rvs Hyper - 180x12x2
ab wheelie - 25x2

snatch felt off and slow, so i stayed at 165 and focused on tech.  FS felt good.  The 325 is a 10 lbs increase over last PF FS workout.  All reps at 325 were at 2.8-2.97 fps.

here's a little video . . . no homo.    LOL

17Mar12    St. Paddy's day

Hit the Manassas VA St. Paddy's day parade as part of the Virginia Scottish Games contingent.  Good time being part of the parade with the wife and kiddos.  We all had a blast

gym - PF Push/Pull

dwu
PP @ 4.5+ fps - work sets at 225x3x2, 235x3x3
Clean grip RDL Hi Pull @ 4.5+ fps - work sets at 255 x 3 x 4 sets
few bi/tri's
hang leg raises

PP was kind of all over the place and sloppy.  But, got some good work in.  The RDL hi pulls felt good and the 255 is a 10# increase from last session.  Last set was 4.78, 4.95, 4.62 (as i recall)

Pretty happy to continue to see increases in the weights I can move at the desired speeds.  This = great power output. Which should = bigger throws.

Throwing tomorrow with BJ and Beauregard.  Will be interesting to see how my CNS fairs.  I suppose we should make sure to get some video.

don't get sassy, Goldilocks.  Remember, I have an Engrish degree from you alma mater.

Throwing today

went well.  Felt a bit flat, and was pretty beat by the time we made it to hammers.

threw some braemar with a 19+ lbs stone, out in the high 30's maybe couple at 40.  OS felt pretty good, best at 48+.  HWFD (56) felt like a ton.  little off in transitioning to the finish, but still through 35-37+.  Ended up taking about 10 throws.  LWFD, felt wonky, slow, and off for 68-70.  HH - mid to high 80's.  LH  - low 100s.
CNS fared ok.  Was feeling pretty beat after the 56.  And, my hand was not too happy either.  But, was a good session and pretty happy with the way everything flew considering all the PF lifting yesterday.
I got some video, though nothing too spectacular.  I think Beau was able to get some compelling footage.

20 Mar 12    PF Squat

dwu
Snatch - upto 185x2x2
PF Back Squat @ 2.62-3.28 - work sets up to 385 x 3 x 4 sets
PF 12" box step ups - 185x3x3
Rvs Hyper - 180x10x3
Ab Wheelie - 20x3

the 385 for the PF BS is another 10# increase.  Hit the wall on the last rep of the 5th set, counted one work set at 355.  So, I shut it down and tried the step ups.  Tricky getting a good reading b/c you have to reset between each rep.  2nd set is the only one I got a good reading on all 6 reps:  RL - 3.3, 3.46, 3.3 . . . LL - 2.97, 3.13, 2.97.  Interesting.
Note on the ab wheelies:  between the ab wheelies and hanging leg raises, and throwing some through the off season, my abs haven't been getting sore when i throw hammers.  I took a good 10-15 throws on Sunday, so that's good.

Couple more days in this PF phase, then Deload next week and head down to San Antonio for two days of throwing.  Masters on Saturday, Am A's on Sunday.  woohoo!

22 Mar 12    PF Push/Pull

dwu
PF Bench @ 2.62-3.28 - work sets at 235 x 3 x 5 sets
PF Hex Bar Pwr Shrug @ 3.77+ - work sets at 365 x 1 then shut down
DB OHP - 65x12x2
BO Row - 225x12x2

The 235 on bench is a 10# increase.  Pretty close on all of them.  I think the best output was 2.8 fps.
365 on the Hex PS was a 10# increase, too.  But, the scalenes got aggravated, so I shut it down after the first set at 365.  -sigh-   Better safe than sorry.  Don't want to take any steps backward after all the progress this OS.

Beard is getting righteous.  I started letting it run free some time in November.  So, we are looking at 4 solid months of growth.  I don't know if I can do a year.  But, I want to at least reach the point where I can work some viking braids into it

24Mar12

Supposed to throw, but rained on my parade.  sigh

So I decided to go hit a new PR in the Hang Clean.  So close.   sheesh

dwu
Hang Cleans - up to 325 x 2 misses

so, I had my sights set on hitting 335 today.  But, I was a little flat.  I realized this at 295 and then again at 315 when I couldn't rack it.  I tried 315 4 different times.  Then decided I would up the ante to 325 cuz it would mean more since that would be a new PR and I might actually get a little better motivated.
No deal.
I was pretty pissed until I saw the video.  I realized that I was actually getting pretty good pulls, just not getting under the bar at the top.  Need to get some coaching there.  And, maybe loosen the straps.
If nothing else, got some good, heavy high pulls in.  Silver lining, right?

Oh, and for some reason, I lost the handle with my right hand on the last pull, thus the dump.
