just checked harbor freight...i think i've got 4 x 20 ft chains on each side...so 80# per side.

but when i bench there's a lot of chain on the ground..if they are 80# full length, i'd guestimate only 50# hanging at the top of the press...so i'm basically struggling to get a weak triple with less than 275!  huge!

Massage Wednesday night.  finally found a guy who is good.  worked on IT band issues almost 90min.  little sore thurday and today, but much less pain through movement.  v. nice.

funny pain inside the rt knee now, right on the bottom that knobby part.  guessing it's a product of redistribution of all that tension in my legs and hams...that's how it feels anyway.  lots of ice and LAX rollling.  feeling better.

clean
135 x 10
225 x 3
265 x 3
275 x 3
295 x 3, 3  big powerful pulls, not like that crap on Tuesday.  nice.

snatch off blocks for a change, bar just below knee.  have been noticing that my snatch technique is crap lately, shoulders forward in sockets and slow to roll over (obv), ugly catches, etc. concentrate on arms back, tight back in sockets, tight back, low butt, full extension and man, that bar is just flying up.  funny how the right technique makes things move easier...

sn
95 x 5
135 x 5
185 x 5
205 x 3, 3, 3, 3

abs.  sexy abs.  i look like an abercrombie model.

frederick...mixed results.

braemar was heavy.  25+ pounds.  went 40'4" or something like that. good!  felt like i was smacking it all the way out.

open stone, trig was sloping and couldn't get used to my left foot not hitting the ground when it was supposed to.  50 ft.  meh.  good that 50 is a suck throw.

HW - can't remember what i threw...maybe 41, maybe it was 42?  43?  whatever.  felt ok but the trig sucked here.

LW.  I suck at the LW.  in a rut that happens to be at 78 ft.  wish it was a rut at 85 ft, but it's in the land of suck at 78.  i can throw 78 in the snow, in the rain, up hill, down hill, with green eggs and ham, etc.  worked on it last week and it felt much better...that guy didn't show up at frederick.

HH - good.  123'10" but there was a bit of a slope.  not too bad, but enough.  sort of like Estes Park from what i can remember...gentle, probably added 3 ft to the heavy.  throws felt good.

LH - 148+.  felt like legit 144 or 145.  slope adds a few feet here.  i was missing the last wind and it was way left.  ball was fast and i was trying to let it run...it ran away.  if i can catch it on the rt side with a little adrenalin it'll go 150.

caber.  whatever.  small stick.

wob.  first pull at 15, no gas at 16.  should have come in at 14 to get some practice and warm up.  hitting the bar at 16.  hmm.  expected to have more gas here, was hoping for 16 on the first pull.  work to do.

some hammer pics in alex's facebook.

Smoky mtn game - worst game in a few yrs.

something like 37 with a great braemar...puzzled with that because i went 40' last week with a 25#
open, no one home.  had one that felt good and was a foul...the rest under 50 with no flick.
hw, junk...37 or something like that
lw, worst ever...74 & 76.   seriously.  just garbage.  i literally felt like this was a new event that i've never thrown.  not even the 78 junk i usually throw.
103 hh, wasn't going to get after anything on a day like this
136 lh, was 2" short.  whatev.
caber was knotted and ugly, but easy enough.
sheaf 33, plenty of pull...  went for 34 but just didn't have it in the tank.
wob, 15 and 16 wasn't there.  i'm really puzzled about it.  pulls in the gym were strong for the off season, feel like i've got lots of pop.  timing feels way off.  expected to be easy 16 and working for 17 right now.  no so much.

strength feels great, i'm in great shape, but mentally i'm spent.  had a guy quit at work and the normal soul crushing workload is at a new insanity.  it will pass, and i will be angry.  then i will throw far.

grrrrr.....

Work sucks.  Well, your work sucks.  Except that it pays the bills, yanno?

Tear it up at Costa Mesa, wish I was gonna be there to say Hi.

angry throwing night.

hw, 37, 37, 37, no gas.  got very angry...44'8"

then spent an hour trying to beat that mark and race the approaching lighting storm.  15 to 20 throws between 43 and 44, finally got one at 45 to call it.

then took a couple in the light weight.  78 as always.

i hate the light weight.

Costa mesa.

breamar - junk, 38 something.  hmm...
Open - 48 junk....  hmmm.....
hw - 46'7"  (PR) 'bout time.  more there too, me thinks.
LW - 80 and some inches.  better than 78'
LH and HH, not feelin' it, ground was crap....i'll push another day.
wob - 18 spinning, tie PR.  happy with that.
caber feels good enough.

swimming in the ocean after the game was the most fun i've had in years.  i felt like a kid again.  i work too much.

practice wednesday.

stones...need to push braemar longer, open left hip.
open, gotta stay straight up.  left side of groin / ab is still killing me, kicking with rt out of the back helps.

practice thursday.

stones are better, still only 50s with 17#.  gotta get that out, really missing it.  can do 50 any speed and effort = big piece of the throw missing.  stay X'd, get down, shift wt onto left, pull longer.

got the 46# WFD over 60 ft.  good stuff happening there.  do more of that.

Mike, are you rushing your LW on your initial cast? Remember, that thing's light. It doesn't have to start fast. Just end that way.

sean...i think so.  will work on that.

lifted once last week...too busy at work to get in the gym.  did snatch up to 185 and then a few rounds of squat complex (front sq w chains and 185, 24 single leg step-up jumps, sideways single leg box jumps, and some jumps to try to touch the I beam).

practiced wob tuesday night...finally got the painting pole out to have something to throw over...struggled to hit 15 and worked on peak issues for a while.

left Wednesday for a few days up in new england, home with family and for the Rhode island games.

(went to the beach, the zoo, and the aquarium.  i could sit and watch the whales swim for hours...i wanna be a kid again)

RI game: braemar no flick...gotta throw some stones to remember how to stand and throw a rock.  simple but not easy.
open - struggled with uphill wet trig...was staying wrapped and hitting the rt hip better each throw...had to take an extra after the comp to put it together, 51 and change.  it's there, gotta keep putting the pieces together.
hw, 45+...i'm strong, this is going well this year.  keep doing that.
Lw.  80, sucking at a higher level.  should be 85+ every time.  i hate the lw.
no hammer, too small.
caber was heavy and short with no taper.  got it over with some effort.
did caber for distance.  stupid event.
wob, standing...made 17.  good.  pull has been there all year, need to continue to refine timing and peak.  going to scotland last year helped this event.  i've got more in the tank here.

went to Bill's after the game for eating insanity.  sherry knocked it out of the park.  i had eating PRs all night.  food was unbelievably good - you should quit your job and open a restaurant kind of good.  i tried to pace myself and it didn't work, everything was too good to control myself.  did i mention the food was good?  was great fun to see old and new friends.  i need more of these events in my life.

Mike, about this: the butt goes back as the ball is moving across it's low point in front?

been throwing some lately, but haven't been able to find time to update.

some hammer, nothing too great.  just reps.  comfy 130s and tag a few near 140.  gotta keep looking for that next gear here...  150 will go when i find it.  12# is running away from me.  when i can catch it, the others will go.

wob has been good.  easy 16 means off season was good.  i'm strong.  losing a little weight now (near 280) with the throwing activity and increased work stress.  abs are sexy tho....

groin pull is still making me get of the back very tentative in the stone.  when it hurts, its 46.  when it doesn't, 52 & 53 are easy.  more flossing here.

hwt is broken, but the 46 is flying.  60 ft again last night.  pulling hard on it .
