3-13-12
defecit deads 625
box jump...core blaster...standing abs

**found out today that due to the dropping of weights my sides of the platform are a full 3 1/2" lower then where i normally stand. which is fine but standing on a 3" block for deads makes the pull super long.

I didn't plan to do much as I just pulled on Monday, and plan to squat on Saturday. The PL crew was doing their thing so I did a few sets of reverse band benches with them. What a stupid exercise, lol.

Mark,

What do you mean by "hi pulls"?  To me they mean pulling the bar up to at least your sternum.  If that is also what you mean, 405 is a very impressive weight.  What kind of sets and reps did you do?  Why don't you bother to list them?  They are not exactly face pulls or curls.

Based on the weights many people use relative to their cleans that is probably normal, but I think of High Pulls as being pulled higher.  Alistar once used the following classification for pulls, which I thought was very clear and descriptive:  Neck Pulls, Nipple Pulls, and Belly Pulls.  Not much doubt what those mean, at least in the context of doing High Pulls.

How are those an accessory movement for a thrower, especially one who does not perform cleans or snatches?

It's an accessory because it's not a squat, press, or deadlift.  Big smile

And I don't know if you've noticed, but Mark trains less like a thrower than I do.  His weight training is almost exclusively like a non-athletic powerlifter.

He throws the implements as training for throwing.

I did not say I had a problem with it, just that those are not what I personally call "High Pulls".  I would call those Clean Pulls, but what do I know?  The only issue is there is a big difference in terms of performance between those with a given weight and pulling the same weight up past your sternum.  I would rather use less weight and pull it higher, but that's just me.
