For those who use off weight implements, when do you do the off weight stuff?  I usually organize my practices this way:

1.  Drills for footwork, position, and timing.

2.  Comp/legal throws.

3.  Underweight speed training.

I rarely use overweight implements.

I would finish the practice with the competition weights.  The idea, as I believe Steve Dering mentioned, is that you need to cement the lessons you learn with the underweight implements through final throws with standard-weight implements.  This neuromuscular learning stuff is quite potent, so this isn't a minor point.

With that said, I don't believe that it makes much difference if your underweight implements are within 10-15% of standard weight.

Typically, my underweight implements are about 65%.  I usually only do 3 throws with the underweight stuff, unless I really uncork one...then it gets fun and I throw a few more...

You can use them year around.  See my reply on this subject in the other under/overweight string.  Go to www.coacheseducation.com then into the Throws section.  Patrick Wyatt wrote an excellent article on the subject.
