You can go to www.nahighlander.com and get the address to send the money to D.J. Satterfield who runs the organization. He will then send you your NAHA card in the mail. You can also pay for them the day of the comp. and I will send it to D.J. and your card will be mailed to you.

Ken,

Quick question - why put a potentially exhausting event like the Farmer's Walk before an extremely explosive event like the WFH?  I don't know much about Strongman, but this does not seem logical to me from a performance point of view.

I will try to answer the first question and definitely the second one. As far as the farmers coming before the WFH, the farmers will only affect your grip, there isn't much explosion to them. It is just a grip/carry event. Also, Ken can tell you, but that may not be the exact order of things.

As far as the weights, go to http://www.nahighlander.com/2010WoodhavenHighlanderHeavyEven ts.pdf and you can see the entry form, rules, etc. for the contest.

Thanks for all the interest. Ken put on a great show at the Scarecrow Festival last year and this one promises to be the same. Plus it's FREE!

wat

I'm quite sure I couldn't throw the WFH, or any other event for that matter, following the farmers so I'm gonna say it it doesn't just "only affect your grip".

It may be less taxing on other events that follow, but to say that....

(note:  this has nothing to do with the specific contest at hand, as really every subsequent event is going to be effected by the previous)

I think you need to know the weight of the FW before getting too upset. If
its light, it'll be a foot race and a moot point. If its heavy and really taxes
grip, then you may have a point, but every competitor is in the same boat,
so it all evens out.

Elvis,
Is there still room for a guy in the 175lb and under class ?
I think they moved Beaver Island back to September.  I am still trying to work out my Competition Schedule for this year.
I can pay the $25 on the day of the competition, is this still correct?
  Thanks,
   Lt. Wt. Dave

I don't want to make a big deal about this - I was really just making an observation and asking a question.

However, while I obviously realize everyone will be equally affected, that is totally beside the point.  The question is why would you place a pure power event after a "last man standing" type event that generally leaves competitors quite tired in one way or another?  No one would consider testing an athlete's 40 yard time 10-15 minutes after a quarter mile race, or attempt a max Power Clean shortly after a 20RM set of squats.  Same thing to me.

While things are obviously going to affect everone differently, I have done WFH numerous times after much heavier farmers than Ken is having(with the same height throw as I do at a standalone HG). It used to be a staple at the McPherson strongman that Scott Tully/Al Myer put on. You could put it after the stone lifting, but that would also affect it. That is what is beautiful about the highlander format, you have to be a very well-rounded athlete, not just proficient in one area.

The order of events have not been determined yet. I usually go over the events and get a feel for what the athletes want to do. I havn't had to many complaints or issues in the past as the strongman events are not as heavy as they would be in a typical strongman contest. I usually keep it a little on the lighter side.

Farmers walk is 200 for lightweight and masters, 220 for middleweights, and 250 for heavyweights.

Keg press is 120 for lightweight and masters, 140 for middles, 180 for heavies.

And yes you can pay the $25 for the NAHA card the day of the comp.

Hope you can make it.

Brother Mark,
I am really thinking about it.  I did a "hybrid" game a few years ago in Ohio with Roland.  I did fine in the Scottish Events and got killed in the strongman stuff.  Ken always puts on a great show even when he knocks out his front tooth setting up a fence for the hammer throw.

You could have a max DL, then a DL for reps, then the WFH and I'd still
show.

You got a competitor list yet or is it just me thus far?

I MUST be nuts! I'm in--just to fill out the "Mascot" division

Seriously...a strongman competition? Please someone wait to remind me
that I'm only 5'7" and 190lbs until AFTER I damage myself there.
