A review of my goals, in preparation for this season, has lead to the realization that before one can take two steps, one first has to take one step; therefore, the following revision of these goals with a more realistic approach.
Originally posted by celtuckian celtuckian wrote:

Primary overall goal:  learn the correct technique for each of the throws.  Five years of observation, without a T&F background, have not yielded the knowledge I know I need.

Secondary goal:  regain that 12 lbs. of bodyweight that seems to have mysteriously evaporated 1) so that the added bodyweight will offset the centrifugal force of the throws (simple physics), and 2) so that when I compete in powerlifting in the 198# class I'm not weighing in at 184#.

Having said that, specific goals are as follows:

WOB: 15'  current PR - 13'

Open Stone: 36'  current PR - 33'

Braemar: 30'  current PR - 26'4"

HWFD: 34'  current PR - 29'3"

LWFD: 46'  current PR - 42'7"

HH: 65'  current PR  59'6"

LH: 80'  current PR - 73'7"

Sheaf:  24'  current PR - 19'

Oh, and return all those calls from Jennifer Anniston....if for no other reason than to keep the phone from ringing off the hook...

Primary Goal: Technique is STARTING to come along, but still a VERY LONG way to go.
Secondary Goal:  who knew eating to gain weight was going to be so hard?  Have put on 6 lbs., and I'm sure it isn't the kind of weight I would ideally like to have.
WOB: current PR -13', revised goal - 14'
Open Stone: current PR - 33", revised goal - 34'
Braemar: current PR - 26'4", revised goal - 27'
HWFD:  current PR - 29'3", revised goal - 30'
LWFD: current PR - 42'7", revised goal - 43'
LH: current PR - 73'7", revised goal - 74'
Sheaf: current PR - 20' (achieved Oct. '11), revised goal - 21'

2012 Goals:

Braemar:  38' current 35'
Open Stone:  46' current 41'
HWFD:  33' current 28'6"
LWFD: 70' current 60'6"
HH: 85' current 78'
LH: 110' current 95'
Sheaf: 34' current 28'6"
WOB: 15' current 13'3"

Most of my currents are from last season which was my first.  No form and litttle weight training involved. I am hoping the off season training and better technique can get me to these goals.

made lots of progress this off season, also making the most of my practice time has helped much. no reason to slow down, need to keep chasing the other lifts/throws goals.

jammin on the one.

Haven't thrown since 2005 (injuries & life).  My goal is to compete at any level this year and start building back up.

Throw with violence.
Compete with honor.
Win with humility.
Loose with dignity.

I'm glad this thread was bumped!

My primary goal is to make it to at least one competition this year (seriously).

I'm also working on getting a bodyweight power snatch for my weight-over-bar. I'm still very much below bodyweight on the lift...

I saw this article on squating, front vs. back and thought it was really helpful considering my attempts to save my knees.  I wasn't sure where to post but since so many for you are posting weight lifting goals I thought many might take a look.  Best, Jim
